TARIFF

  • The total cost of the program for the 2024 call is $15,923,735 with an annual program fee of $3,980,934. In cases where the student is awarded an ANID scholarship (ex-CONICYT) or equivalent and the amount of the scholarship is less than the fee, the University will release the student from the payment of said difference. In March of each year, a tuition fee must be paid, which can be paid in two installments.

INTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • The Doctoral Study Scholarship of the University of Talca consists of the financing of living expenses, including a health allowance and the exemption from the payment of the annual fee of the Doctoral Program. For the year 2023, child support reaches $705,958 per month for 12 months. This scholarship can be renewed every year until the student completes the theoretical duration contemplated in the Program’s training plan.
  • The Doctoral Fee Exemption Scholarship of the University of Talca consists of the release of the annual fee of the Doctoral program in which the scholarship holder has been accepted and does not contemplate living expenses, or health allowance. It is granted for an annual period and can be renewed every year for the duration contemplated in the Program’s training plan.
  • The University of Talca Doctoral Fee Partial Waiver Scholarship is awarded to students with external funding of at least 80% of the value of the Program’s fee. The benefit consists of partial exemption from the annual program fee and does not include living expenses or health allowances. The partial exemption corresponds to the difference between the value of the program fee and the amount paid for the External Scholarship with a cap of 20% of the value of the annual fee. It is granted for an annual period and can be renewed every year for the duration contemplated in the Program’s training plan.
  • The Doctoral Study Scholarship for foreign students not resident in Chile is intended for foreign students who are not resident in Chile and consists of the financing of living expenses, including a health allowance and exemption from the payment of the annual fee of the Doctoral Program. This scholarship is awarded for an annual period and can be renewed every year for up to the duration contemplated in the Program’s training plan. These scholarships are competitive and are awarded according to the suitability of the applicants, following a rubric approved by an ad-hoc committee.
  • The Scholarship for the Promotion of Internationalization of the University of Talca Its objective is to support the development and internationalization of the doctoral programs of the University of Talca, through funding aimed at its students, for the realization of academic activities linked to their respective doctoral theses abroad, with universities or research centers. The benefits of the scholarship include round-trip tickets to the destination country and the monthly maintenance allowance of 1000 $USD for a maximum period of six months.

Requisitos de admisión

The requirements to apply for the PhD in Psychology are:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a professional degree in psychology, or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent in the case of undergraduate studies carried out abroad, granted by national or foreign higher education institutions.
  • Make an oral presentation of the initial research proposal to the Academic Committee of the Program.
  • Hold an interview with the Academic Committee of the Program where motivational aspects will be examined and the level of the initial competencies of the candidates indicated in the admission profile will be observed.
  • Applicants who do not formally certify English language proficiency will be evaluated during the interview to determine the degree of comprehension of scientific articles in English about research in psychology

To apply for the PhD in Psychology, candidates must submit the following documents:

  1. Resume Submit a document in the format provided by the program (download).
  2. A simple copy of the applicant’s identity card or passport.
  3. Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree Certificate or its equivalent in the case of undergraduate studies carried out abroad issued by the home university.
  4. Certificate of concentration of undergraduate grades, issued by the home university (concentration of bachelor’s or professional degree grades can be presented). In the case of studies taken abroad, the grades will be converted to a scale of 1 to 7 according to the procedure stipulated by the University of Talca.
  5. Undergraduate Graduation Ranking Certificate, where the applicant’s GRADUATION position and the total number of students of his/her graduation generation or degree issued by the higher education institution of origin of the undergraduate is explicitly expressed, or use the ranking form provided by the program completed and validated by the institution of origin. In the event that the home university does not deliver this type of certificate, a formal document must be attached to the application in which the institution stipulates that it does not issue this type of certificate. If necessary, the program will have a form for this purpose in which the home institution can state that it does not issue this type of certificate (download forms 2 and 3)
  6. Certificate of concentration of postgraduate grades in the case of being or having completed postgraduate studies (optional).
  7. Two confidential letters of recommendation from people who have had academic or professional contact with the applicant in the format provided by the program. Letters of recommendation are not weighted in the final evaluation of the applicant, however, it is a qualitative background relevant to the overall evaluation process (download form).
  8. Initial research proposal that demonstrates the area of interest and the line of research work that the applicant wishes to develop in the doctorate. The proposal must have a general bibliographic discussion, statement of objectives, methodology and list of bibliographic references, using the format provided by the program. The initial research proposal may change throughout the PhD (download form).
  9. Letter of commitment to dedicate full-time to the curriculum in the format provided by the program (download form).

  • The entire list of documents described in this instruction must be uploaded to the application platform.
  • Applicants are encouraged to join the files into 4 PDFs and upload them to the platform.

The evaluation of the background will be carried out by the Academic Committee, through an evaluation guideline, with a scale of 1 to 5, using a weighted average of the following factors:

  1. Academic background: 40%
  2. Academic trajectory: 30%
  3. Oral presentation of initial research proposal and interview: 30%
