Psychology has not dealt primarily with anomie, which is considered a major and traditionally sociological theme, but which today is receiving renewed attention in psychology. On the other hand, for some years now there has been some evidence that Chile is experiencing anomie, constituted by a social crisis related to political representation (credibility in the institutionality, its leaders and political class), political participation, trust-probity, security (pensions, health, crime). The psychosocial effects of these processes on citizenship can manifest themselves in different ways, and the purpose of this Colloquium is to examine citizens’ perceptions of the country today and, especially, some of the effects of anomie on their psychological well-being and discomfort.
